Don't call me Scar face

As you can see from these before and after photos, Mele is healing very quickly, which is good and feeling better than ever, which is bad. She is dying to play with her friends and is taking out her frustration on the inside of the jail, bedding is being tossed and mattresses shredded. We give her as much outside time as we can and she is sleeping with me on a mattress on the floor but I leave for England in a week and if she persists in feeling well, Shirlee will probably have to sedate her when she goes to work. Sounds just like the seventies.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

A stitch in time

Mele has had a very good week, we took her pain patch off on Sunday night and by Tuesday she was off of both antibiotics and pain pills. She even had a little company in her crate!. Mele has taken to jailhouse living much better than expected, she has developed signals to let us know when she is thirsty and when she needs to go out, though the latter has *many* false alarms and we get to stand around in the garden watching the rain falling in the pool.
When I am in the office she gets to hang out under the desk or exchange nose kisses with Bear through the glass. I think at this point her hip is already is feeling better than it did before the op, the downside being she wants to romp and play and we can't let her *sigh*.
Just got back from the vet where we had her staples pulled, the incision has almost completly healed and her hair is growing back nicely. I'm hoping it won't be to long before I can take her on a car ride that ends in a park instead of a vets office.

The big BM

Mele had a good weekend, it may seem strange to get excited about bowel movements but when they are not happening it's cause for concern. So yippeee we have big doody, would post a picture but am getting flac, some people seem to think it would be in bad taste, huh, tell that to the New Tate.
Mele has a new favorite toy, thanks to Lacie, it's a huge Mickey and at this point he still has his ears.
We have made some changes to Mele's crate, it now has a nice bunny baby bumper (say that three times fast), makes it a lot more comfortable for her and goes nicely with her teletubby blanky.

Mele - Surgery and recovery

Mele's surgery was on the 2nd of November, everything went well and we picked her up the next day. She was a little groggy from painkillers but was pleased to see us, we were thrilled to see her looking so well but a little groggy from being told she would have to live in a crate for 16 weeks! aaagh.
The drive home was uneventful and much to our surprise went in to her new home without much trama. Even though she is still pretty sedated we can tell that crate life is going to be very hard on Mele especially not being able to romp with her buddies. We are planning to have her in the office with us whenever we can and will re-arrange John's bedroom, putting the mattress on the floor so she does not have to sleep by herself.
While her leg is obviously still very sore, she is able to walk on it with the aid of a belly sling. We are taking her out to the back garden every 4- 6 hours and she has been able to pee on a number of occasions, though "number 2" still elludes us.
