Goodbye

This will be the last posting on this blog. I took Mele for her two month checkup and follow up x-rays about two week ago. Everything looks great and we have been allowing her a lot more freedom. She can go potty by herself and she is having a lot more supervised playtime with her friends.
I have also formally adopted her!, as of my birthday March 14th and have officially changed her name. Her name is now Daisy-Mayhem(and actually has been for quite a while) and if you ever see her roaring through the house swinging her squeaky toy from side to side you would appreciate how well the name fits.
On a far sadder note we have to say goodbye to one of Daisys friends, Cooper. As mentioned before, Coop had surgery on his front legs and was doing fine, till a couple of weeks ago when he suddenly had a seizure and died. Daisy wishes she could have raised a little more Mayhem with you, goodbye Coop.

This little Piggy

I would like to thank world famous glass artist, Jennifer "Smasher" Wanzong for donating this stained glass pig she made for my mother to Daisy-Mayhem's relief fund. I have put $300 in Mums name into the slush fund, thanks again, Mum loved it.
Daisy-Mayhem nee Mele has reached a new milestone, she can now be out without her belly band, and can take short walks (or drags as I like to call them). She is doing fantastically well and desperatly wants to romp with her pals but we still have a long way to go before we can let that happen.
Daisy would like to give a shout out to her friend Cooper who is recovering from surgery on his elbows.

A little less metal

Mele is doing much better, on Saturday she had her staples removed and managed the whole ordeal without to much drama. She is once again sleeping on the bed instead of in her jail and apart from wanting to get up and play at sunrise is not to annoying. Now that the staples are out comes the hard part, keeping her from bouncing off the walls, she feels fine, wants to play and thinks we are mean not to let her out and romp.
Mele would also like to say "Bite Doctor Walls, I did!" to her friend Cooper who is having surgery on his front leg(s) today, hope things go well Coop.

Another step backwards

Mele managed to pop her joint again, this time while she was sleeping *sigh*. So it's back to the Doc again for more surgery, this time it looks like he will be replacing the socket itself with a different type. The surgery takes place this afternoon so more later.

Disaster

The unthinkable happened on Tuesday night, while Mele was out for her late night tinkle time she managed to pop the ball out of the socket on her replacement hip. She has been back to Dr Wall for surgery and will be back home today. The Doc found scar tissue in the joint area which probably caused the joint to pop, he has removed it and also lengthened the neck of the socket so hopefully this will not happen again. Sadly this means another recuperation period and the postponement of the surgery on the right hip joint, Rats!.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and thank you to everybody that has donated to Mele's surgery. Mele has made a remarkable recovery and is now leading an (almost) normal life. She's chewing up shoes, tearing down decorations and humping her friend Sam, yup, back to normal. Shirlee will be taking her back to see the vet who operated on her to check out the leg, and if possible will schedule the next surgery for as early in February as possible. If that is the case she will have two good hips in time for summer, just hope the pool will be big enough.

one month and counting

It has officially been 4 weeks since her surgery. We are now going potty without a belly sling and have started taking two short walks a day.
She is quickly making her way to china through her Tempur Pedic mattress. She did ok with me being at work 1/2 days this week as Mickey still has his ears and Bobo still has his squeeky.
Mele has been feeling a little despondant since her favorite person in the whole world left for England, so as a treat I took her to the vet and had x-rays of her hip taken, she has now completely forgotten about him hehehe.
